Today on The Weekly Plug we look at another successful OurCycle La event, the difference between donating and recycling computers and how one city uses broadband on buses to provide internet access for students in this edition of The Weekly Plug.
With another successful OurCycle LA event human-I-T, and our partners, were able to distribute 100 computers with to families in Pacoima,California. Along with council member Herb J. Wesson, we have been able to give out free computers to families who don’t have the necessary funds for a new computer. Watch the video from LA This Week for more!
Should I Donate Or Recycle My Old Computer?
What is the difference between recycling and donating my old computer? Which on will ensure my old device it put to a better use? We looked into this topic and discovered that donating your old electronics has a “multiplying effect” for communities. It’s been only a week since Earth Day, “but you still have options to curb your E-waste from ending up in landfills. Buses With Broadband: The Key To Expanding Internet Access
What’s a creative way to expand broad for students? Buses with Broadband. In this recent article from The Tech Advocate, Matthew Lynch writes that “utilizing school buses for more than just transportation needs is an innovative way to give students with yet another tool to help them get the best education possible.” This initiative was achieved at the Coachella Valley Unified School District in California in order to meet the educational needs of their students.
